Owned and operated by Kempsey Shire Council, Kempsey Airport is used for a range of commercial and recreational purposes, such as aircraft maintenance, charter operations, pilot training, skydiving, a local flying club, general aviation, and medical and emergency services.

We thank the community for their feedback, attendance at workshops and registration on the Community Reference Group.

  • Workshops Inform Process for Fly Neighbourly Agreement

    Feedback received during the community workshops has been documented and considered by Councillors as part of a report into the process for a Fly Neighbourly Agreement (FNA) tabled at the August Council meeting.

    The full report on the Community Workshops has been added to the document library.

    After considering the workshop feedback and objectives of an FNA Council resolved to endorse the process outlined for a Noise Management Study as part of the FNA and to convene a Community Reference Group for the project.

    Council invites interested members of the community to serve on a Community Reference Group to oversee the process for preparing a Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Agreement for Kempsey Airport.

    The role of the Reference Group will be to:

    • Provide input into the consultancy brief for a Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Agreement
    • Assist in developing selection criteria and EOI evaluation for that specialist consultant
    • Review consultancy deliverables
    • Review draft Council reports regarding these plans going out for public exhibition
    • Review submissions on draft plans and have input into final recommendations to go to Council

    Successful applicants will represent a broad cross section of the community. EOI must be received in writing by 4:30pm Friday 15 September, 2017. Complete the online form to submit an EOI.
