Have your say on the draft Code of Meeting Practice

Residents are invited to have their say on a new draft Code of Meeting Practice.

Councillors workshopped the draft before considering it at the September council meeting, and it is now being put forward for public review.

The proposed changes include:

  • The number of signatures required for a petition to be reported to Council be reduced from 500 to 200
  • Adding an acknowledgement of Service Men, Women and Families at the start of meetings
  • Removing the prescribed text for the Opening Prayer
  • The inclusion of a statement of ethical obligations on each business paper
  • Allowance for Councillors to attend meetings by video conference

The draft Code of Meeting Practice has been placed on public exhibition for 28 days, allowing a period of 42 days for public comments prior to formal adoption by Council.

The draft Code of Meeting Practice will be on exhibition with the community invited to provide feedback until 4pm Thursday 10 November 2022.

Following the exhibition period, the draft Code of Meeting Practice will be reported back to Council for final adoption. A summary of submissions made and any recommended changes will be included in the report.

Submissions can be made by one of the following methods:

  1. Complete the online submission form
  2. Provide a written response and address to:
