Why has Kempsey Shire Council commissioned an Economic Development and Tourism Strategy?

Council endorsed a project to develop an Economic Development and Tourism Strategy for the next ten-year period. As part of this process, the Macleay Valley Economic Development and Tourism Committee was formed in November 2018. This Committee will be an important mechanism for consultation, advice and feedback to Council staff on the implementation and review of priorities, strategies and plans. The Committee will also provide Council with the opportunity to act as a link between Council and key industry sectors with the aim of developing partnerships that allow for the advancement of programs and initiatives to drive economic growth within a new framework

You can access the Discussion Paper and Information Sheet for more detail

Will there be community information sessions before the Economic Development and Tourism Strategy is delivered?

Council has appointed consultants, SC Lennon & Associates to work with Council in the development of the Macleay Valley Economic Development and Tourism Strategy. The consultants will conduct three industry specific workshops to allow stakeholders and industry representatives to provide feedback and input to the strategy. The workshops will be held:

    ·  Thursday 28 February at 5.30pm for BUSINESS & INDUSTRY groups

    ·  Friday 1 March at 10.00am for TOURISM groups
