Consultation has concluded, we thank you for your submissions.

SAFETY ON OUR ROADS

The Strategy has been developed on Council's behalf by specialist Road Safety consultants Safe Systems Solutions Pty Ltd.

The strategy has been developed to help us achieve the Federal and State target of zero fatalities and serious injuries on our roads by 2050.

Council’s Manager Strategy & Asset Planning, Phil Moore says “to develop an understanding of the road safety issues we face, we have analysed the data on local crashes, looked at road safety best practices, surveyed the community and stakeholders the outcomes of which are documented in the Strategy.”

A key component of the strategy is the recommended short to longer term actions designed to achieve the strategy objectives. It is important to Council the community have their say on the proposed strategy actions. Comments and submissions are to be received up until Friday 24 November 2023.

Road Safety Strategic Plan

Kempsey Shire Council is working with Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd to develop a ten-year Road Safety Strategic Plan 2023-2033.

The expertise of specialist staff and consultants will be combined with the lived experience of our community's road users and interest groups to identify the actions best suited to improve road safety in the shire.

The Road Safety Strategic Plan aims to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes on our road network.

What do we want to know?

We are conducting a community survey to ask you to provide feedback on road safety issues in our region.

We want to identify key areas that require attention in order to develop solutions that will improve road safety for everyone.

Tell us what you think!

Submissions can be made by the following methods:

  1. Fill out our short survey on your road safety concerns.
  2. Make a more comprehensive, formal submission, using the online submission tool; by email to ksc@kempsey.nsw.gov.au or mailed to:

The General Manager
Kempsey Shire Council
PO Box 3078
West Kempsey
NSW 2440

Submissions have now closed.

What happens next?

We are now collating your input and a summary of the findings will be shared with the community on the Your Say Macleay website.

The survey results will help Council identify specific concerns and issues that members of the community have regarding traffic safety.

It will also help to understand the traffic issues that exist in different areas of our region.

The formation of this strategy will rely on crash data from the previous 10 years of crashes within the Kempsey Shire, the results of this survey undertaken by members of the community, and consultation with stakeholders and road safety experts.
