Why is Council providing this funding?
Council understands the importance of recognising and celebrating NAIDOC Week in our community. This grant will provide community groups across the Shire an opportunity to bring people together to take part in cultural celebrations.
Who can apply?
Council welcomes applications from local, registered not for profit groups. Only one application will be considered from each group.
When will we know if we have been successful in receiving the funding?
A Council staff member will contact you by Monday 13th June (three weeks prior to NAIDOC week).
What can we spend it on?
You can only spend the grant funding on expenses that are needed to celebrate NAIDOC week activities (not staff wages or operating expenses) i.e. marquees, art materials, food etc.
When do we need to spend the funding by?
The grant needs to be spent on events/activities that will be delivered to celebrate NAIDOC Week (Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July 2022).
How will we receive the funding?
If you have received funding from Council in the past, we will deposit our funds into your nominated account. If you aren't already a creditor with Council, we will contact you to make arrangements.
Can we partner with other community groups?
Yes! Please contact other community groups in your area to see how they can support you in delivering and promoting the event. However, only one application will be considered for the same event (e.g. two groups cannot apply for funds towards the same event/activity).
Can we charge people to attend the event?
No, the event needs to be free for people in community to attend.
Will Council assist with promoting the event?
Yes, Council can help promote your event, however, we strongly suggest that you also promotw your event using your local networks, social media, posters etc.
Will Council assist in running the event?
No, the event will need to be organised and delievered by your organisation or supporting community groups.
If we have to cancel the event do we have to give the money back?
You don't have to give the money back if you have to cancel your event for unforeseen circumstances. Please inform Council as soon as possible and re-schedule your event for another date prior to 31 July 2022.
What do we do after the event has been held?
We will send you a short form to complete and we will need copies of your receipts to confirm the purchases you made for the event.
What happens if we don't spend all the money?
Please contact Council staff if this occurs but if you buy extra non-perishable food/drink that doesn't get used, they can be stored to be used at future events.
