In 2020 Kempsey Shire Council assembled and presented the Black Summer & Beyond exhibition which toured the Shire.

It was an outstanding success, receiving praise across the Shire and winning an award for innovation in special events.

Council would like to thank all those who contributed images and stories, as well as the many thousands who have visited and experienced this powerful exhibition.

The photos and their stories are now available as a commemorative book, available to purchase from Council's Customer Service Centre, the West Kempsey Post Office and Coastline Credit Union for only $10 a copy.

With a Forward by Shane Fitzsimmons, Commissioner for Resilience NSW, the 108 page book presents not only the full colour reproductions of the 95 photographs submitted by residents to the Black Summer & Beyond Exhibition but also many of their stories.
