Consultation has concluded

We want to know what Kempsey Shire's road users and pedestrians are most concerned about in 2023.

As the Kempsey Shire continues to thrive, our population is growing, and more people are choosing to join our community.

This means that there will be more vehicles on our roads and more people using our road network than ever before.

In May and June, drivers, motorcycle riders, pedestrians, cyclists and any other road users are invited to provide input on possible road safety solutions.

Road Safety Strategic Plan

Kempsey Shire Council is working with Safe System Solutions Pty Ltd to develop a five-year Road Safety Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

The expertise of specialist staff and consultants will be combined with the lived experience of our community's road users and interest groups to identify the actions best suited to improve road safety in the shire.

The Road Safety Strategic Plan aims to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes on our road network.

What do we want to know?

We are conducting a community survey to ask you to provide feedback on road safety issues in our region.

We want to identify key areas that require attention in order to develop solutions that will improve road safety for everyone.

Submissions closed 7 June 2023.

Tell us what you think!

Council is seeking community input on your road safety concerns for 28 days.

Submissions can be made by the following methods:

The Road Safety Strategic Plan survey closed 7 June 2023.

What happens next?

Responses are confidential, and a summary of the findings will be shared with the community on the Your Say Macleay website.

The survey results will help Council identify specific concerns and issues that members of the community have regarding traffic safety.

It will also help to understand the traffic issues that exist in different areas of our region.

The formation of this strategy will rely on crash data from the previous 10 years of crashes within the Kempsey Shire, the results of this survey undertaken by members of the community, and consultation with stakeholders and road safety experts.
