Overview
The community are invited to provide feedback on proposed plans for South Kempsey Park Draft Master Plan
The proposed plan includes the following
Parkland
- Improved drainage flow under Middleton St.
- Retain area for leash free dog walking area
- Off street pedestrian / cycle link
Tennis Courts
- Recommended to upgrade as multi lined small courts for broader residential use such as basketball, netball, volleyball, pickle ball etc.
Sports Field parking area
- Car parking to be formalised with bitumen
- Small bus parking
- Better control of runoff to storm water
Jim Stirling Oval
- Maintain good grass surface
- Improved drainage to relieve ponding
- Rotate AFL posts
- Rework the central wicket
- Replace existing pavilion with a new one in same location (incorporating a new ground maintenance store)
- Repairs to western double cricket nets surface.
Potential Community facility
- Potential cultural and or sporting facility (Subject to a preliminary proposal)
Museum and Gallery
- Vehicle and pedestrian control
Recreation, facilities and car park
- Retain mature eucalypt trees for shade
- Monitor condition of buildings, furniture and paths
- Circular path around play area
- Formalise the car park
- Large vehicle turning roundabout
- Proposed learn to ride / pump track
- Part time trader facilities
Lear to ride / Pump track
- Now completed

How was this plan developed?
Kempsey Shire Council has engaged with recreation users on this plan. This was to gather their feedback, listen to any concerns and to consider the future needs of the community in the develop of the South Kempsey Park Master Plan
At meetings attended by those sporting group representatives, all users agreeing to the plan.
During this process there was significant discussion on the potential future development of an indoor facility.
The masterplan has been fully funded for the development of the plans.
Delivery of the items within the plan are NOT currently funded. Future funding opportunities sourced by Council staff or Community groups will be needed to complete these works.
