What is a Structure Plan?
A Structure Plan helps define Council’s preferred direction of future growth within a particular area or centre and demonstrate how the process can be managed.
A Structure Plan sets out the future framework and develops a shared vision for an area. It is a long-term strategic plan created to set the blueprint for development and investment.
It is designed on the basis of the following objectives :

A Structure Plan enables local governments to outline priorities and develop actions to achieve the best outcome for local communities. The Structure Plan will:

The primary purpose of the Background Paper is to provide you with an opportunity to have your say early in the planning process, so Council can consider and take into account all of the communities views and opinions.

How much housing is needed in South West Rocks?
South West Rocks is expected to experience the most significant growth in the shire. According to the most recent suveys and projections, the population of South West Rocks is estimated to grow by 2,575 residents by 2036, nearly a 50% increase on the current population. Such population growth would require an estimated additional 1,582 new dwellings or increased housing density.
Does SWR need new housing?
The population of South West Rocks has been growing rapidly and is projected to increase in the coming years. The percentage increase in population growth in South West Rocks has been relatively high compared to that of Kempsey Shire and NSW for several decades. This is consistent with the trend of increasing populations on the NSW coast.
