Overview
The purpose of the Stuarts Point Structure Plan is to plan for considered future development that responds to community and stakeholder priorities.
The Structure Plan will identify how Stuarts Point can grow into the future, in a way that is responsible, appropriate and maintains the local character of the Stuarts Point community.
To date, growth of the Stuarts Point has been restricted pending detailed environmental assessment, a comprehensive drainage strategy and a reticulated sewage availability from the Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme, which is expected to be operational from 2026/27.
With the planned installation of the Stuarts Point Sewerage Scheme and increasing housing demand on the Mid North Coast, the Structure Plan will play a critical role in setting out a strategic direction to support appropriate growth and housing needs for Stuarts Point.
Planning for growth in Stuarts Point
The purpose of the Structure Plan is to guide the future growth of Stuarts Point in a way that is responsible, appropriate and values the local character of the Stuarts Point community.
The Stuarts Point Structure Plan will consider both opportunities for infill development within Stuarts Point, and the potential for future greenfield development at the Stuarts Point village.
The Structure Plan will explore the principles and actions required to guide any future development of greenfield land that is zoned RU5 Village and E4 General Industrial, while seeking to find a balance between supporting growth and protecting the qualities that make Stuarts Point unique.
Community and stakeholder engagement will guide the Structure Plan in addressing environmental values, hazards, Aboriginal culture, housing, village character, public spaces, community facilities, transport routes and active recreation to ensure well-informed decision making.
