I’ve already shared my views in the draft in late 2024, why do I need to do it again?

The Community Advisory Group has worked with Council to review the from the community in late 2024.  As a result, the designs have been amended and a lot more detail added.

In some matters, the community feedback was quite mixed, so this is your chance to review how the plan has developed and share your views.  Even if you told us what you thought late last year, please tell us again so we have as much community input as possible on what is liked and what is not, or other suggestions.  Our website has a short survey which we’d love you to complete.

What’s changed in the updated draft designs?

The updated draft designs now contain new nature-based playgrounds, a skate and scooter park, shaded picnic areas, and improved beach and creek access. Community feedback has been heard, with the retention of foreshore car parking reflected in the design, as well as the extended carpark option for community consideration.

The plans provide for markets, improved pedestrian circulation, and stronger connections between key areas like Willow Street, Main Street, and Little Nobby promoting all round improved safety

Will the Killick Creek Pathway be retained for community use?

Yes, and a new pathway is proposed to connect Willow Street Foreshore to Pacific Street near Lloyd Park.

Will the markets still be able to operate at the foreshore?

Yes, the updated draft design includes an open green space that can be used for marketsThis is located between the proposed foreshore playground and skate and scoot park and the amenities (refer number 7 on the draft design).

Can I park my boat trailer?

Yes, Boat trailer parking is included in the draft plan near the boat ramp.

Why are there fewer parks along the waterfront?

There has been a strong community desire for a wider green space on the foreshore, so this strip has been widened significantly. The draft proposes to approximately double the width of the foreshore space in front of the parking area. Overall, the total number of parks remains the same at 130 parks. There is an option to relocate some further parking spaces into what is currently designated the ‘surf check’ spot near the surf club.  For more details, please complete our survey.

Will the holiday park boundary change?

If adopted, the draft concept plan will mean the proposed parking encroaches on the existing ‘Area 9’ of the adopted holiday park planThis was a concession offered by Council in adopting the holiday park plan in June 2024.

Once the plans are approved by Council, how long will it take to implement them?

Once the plans are finalised with the community and community advisory group, they will be reported to a Council meeting for final approval.  At this time, planning will begin to fund and deliver the designs.  This will likely be reliant on grant funding and may occur in stages, so will likely take a considerable number of years.
