PROJECT UPDATE

At the 18 August 2020 Council meeting it was resolved to adopt the Masterplan and the retain the naming of Service Clubs Park. You can read the Council report and the minutes

BACKGROUND

New Masterplan proposed for Service Clubs Park!

Over the last 9 months Council has engaged with relevant sporting groups to develop a Service Clubs Park Masterplan which was presented at the 16 June 2020 Council meeting. The plan for this space is to formalise the park for major events, markets and expanding cricket capacity in line with the Macleay Valley Sports Strategy 2017 and supporting the outcomes of the Horizon 2030 Economic Development and Tourism Strategy

We are now seeking your feedback on the draft Masterplan! Closes 24 July

The Draft Masterplan outlines key changes that are proposed for the Park including

- formalising the use of the park for events, concerts and markets

- expanding capacity for senior cricket events

- upgrading the playground and including exercise equipment

- installation of a walking/ running track

- upgraded amenities and facilities building

- formalised and upgraded carparking in three locations

- enclosing the existing storm water drain which will increase the amount of usable space

- over time, moving Athletics to Kemp Street as part of the Kemp Street Sporting Complex proposal
