Overview

The community are invited to provide feedback on the proposed plans for the Willawarrin Recreation Ground Draft Master Plan.

The proposed plans include the following:

Sports-field

  • Improved drainage – to allow a mowed spectator bank & better field drainage
  • Barriers - to balance stock and vehicle entry on ‘event days’
  • Lighting - upgrade to 100 lux
  • Car Parking - use of flush curb to formalise parking
  • Facilities - Covered viewing area south of the pavilion, additional rain cover, additional storage, terraced and or covered seating, other upgrades to internal facilities as required.
  • Path linkage - pedestrian path from the pavilion to the play area and buildings

Equestrian Area

  • Some changes to vehicle access and movement during events
  • Updates to gates and stock yards to better contain stock, improve water supply, power and available shade cover.
  • Small yards – to be enlarged
  • Facilities – improve lighting, moveable spectator facilities and drainage. Consideration given to PA system and canteen shelter

Camping Areas

  • Adaptable or temporary for short / long term stays.
  • Improve reticulation of water, power locations.

Mixed Use Areas

  • Drainage - updates to encourage increased use of the area.
  • Hard Stand Courts – to be retained for long term parking of aid equipment
  • Soft Spots – measures taken where grass grows through pebbles and rocks

Community Hall

  • Upgraded drainage adjacent northern entry

Tennis Courts

  • Replaced with the construction of a new multi-purpose hard court

How was this plan developed?

Kempsey Shire Council has conducted information meetings to engage with recreation users and residents. This was to gather their feedback, listen to any concerns and to consider the future needs of the community in the develop of the Willawarrin Recreation Ground Master Plan.

The masterplan has been fully funded for the development of the plans.

Delivery of the items within the plan are NOT currently funded. Future funding opportunities sourced by Council staff or Community groups will be needed to complete these works.
