As part of Kempsey Shire Council’s commitment to engage with Kempsey Airport stakeholders as we developed the Airport’s Master Plan, a second round of consultation with our Master Plan Consultants, Aviation Projects, was scheduled in 2022.
The consultation will took place from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Council’s Customer Service Centre by appointment only.
These sessions were conducted in the same manner as the initial sessions held from 13-15 July 2022. Aviation Projects contacted each stakeholder to determine a date/time to meet (either in person, by telephone or via video conference).
Stakeholders were welcome to book a meeting session.
Why did we do more consultations?
The purpose of this second round of consultation was to communicate:
the progress of the master planning opportunities, and
constraints that have been identified through the initial consultation process
and to capture any final comments prior to the formal public exhibition required for endorsement and adoption by Council in 2023.
What is the Airport Master Plan 2042
Kempsey Shire Council is the owner and operator of Kempsey Airport. Council recognises the importance of this asset and is currently developing an Airport Master Plan that will guide Council's approach to improving, growing and developing this asset over the next twenty (20) years.
The Airport Master Plan 2042 will act as the basis for the timely and coordinated development of aviation facilities and infrastructure, aviation, and non-aviation land use, and for appropriate management of the airport environment.
What will the Master Plan include?
The Master Plan will reference recent Council initiatives to upgrade and develop the Kempsey Airport facilities including:
planning and construction for the Macleay Valley Adventure Park
a new wildlife fence
upgrades to the existing general aviation pavement and apron areas and
