Kempsey Shire Council is seeking feedback on the preliminary design of the track.

A new BMX Pump Track for Kempsey!

For project updates please see the Newsfeed

BACKGROUND

Have your say by 27 July on the draft designs and concepts for a new BMX pump track on the corner of Leith and Sea Street, West Kempsey.

The track will provide a new low cost recreational facility for children, young people and those young at heart to stay fit and active!

We have been engaging with young people, residents, services and NSW Police in the development of this project and now it's your turn to have a say on the draft designs by 27 July!

From a community meeting organised By Community Housing Limited an idea was proposed to build a pump track in West Kempsey on crown land on the corner of Sea and Leith Streets West Kempsey. The area where the track will be built is an unused portion of Crown land. Putting active recreation infrastructure in the area, increasing the number of people visiting and using the area will make the site less attractive for anti-social behavior.

It will provide children and young people with a safe off-road track for recreational riding, coupled with a bike safety education, maintenance, recycling program to ensure bikes are safe to ride and providing the skills required to maintain a bike will improve road safety for all users

The pump track will have an asphalt surface which will minimise maintenance needs and it will be suitable for a wide range of users from bike riders, scooter riders, skateboarders, and roller-blades.

Community Feedback is now required to finalise the final design of the track and to determine how the space will be managed moving forward.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the draft Pump track designs. Council received 126 submissions and we are currently working through all the comments and suggestions to inform the next stage of design. We anticipate that we will be able to provide a further project update early in September. Thanks again for all your interest!
